The printed music for “Standing in My Shoes” is sold as an individual transcription. Leo Kottke first recorded “Standing in My Shoes” with drums and bass in 1971 on Mudlark , and then as a solo in 1973 on My Feet Are Smiling . It has been a part of his concert repertoire ever since. Whether Kottke plays it on a 12-string tuned down or a six-string at pitch, it has an enormous presence on the concert stage, with its driving pulse and infectious rhythm. As Michael Hedges said, “Leo Kottke is the Rhythm King. He never lost a beat. He still has them all.”
