The printed music for “Ian and Nisa” is sold as an individual transcription. “Ian and Nisa” was recorded in 1979 and issued in 1980 on the Takoma LP Michael Gulezian/Unspoken Intentions. As John Fahey wrote, in what was intended to be the original liner notes, “… this record, while taking up within itself all previous American acoustic guitar styles …, goes further and far beyond anything that has hitherto been accomplished. Gulezian, with complete authority, marches, or rather scurries, up and down the dreamy landscapes of impressionism/expressionism. A new synthesis, strikingly and subtly original.” Now, 24 years later, it seems just as fresh as if it had been written today.
